Warning: possible side affect from collecting childhood nostalgia, it can become ridiculously addictive!
Afternoon lovelies! I hope you’re keeping warm and cosy, maybe you’ve just made a fresh cup of tea and have a slither of cake on standby (go on hun, treat yourself!)
If you’ve hung around here long enough one of the main things you’ll know about me is that I am a massive nerd and it’s something i’m incredibly proud of! Over the last 5 years my beloved home has become a treasure trove, if you will, and my partner and I collect a plethera of action figures, memorabilia and artwork. Our friends and family have described it as a museum haha! But our collection can range from new, old, replicas and pre-loved; whether it’s been passed down from family, given to us from friends when they’ve raided their parents loft or purchased from eBay… Possibly resulting in a bidding war.
For both me and my partner this slight… ahem, MAJOR obsession stems from not having the chance to own any of these things when we were younger, movies and TV series I have come to hold very dear since childhood didn’t actually sell merchandise over here in the uk, believe it or not! In other cases it might be finishing a collection we might have started as a youngster and now want to finish what our parents started!
So I find it pretty fantastic really, now that I’m older I have the opportunity to own these toys for myself… and if you’re wondering I’m 32 years old.
If you’re like me and love the thought of scrolling through countless EBay or Etsy pages for a sweet deal on a piece from your childhood, let me share with you some of the tips I’ve picked up from purchasing second-hand toys!

So story time with Quinn! For my 32nd birthday my wonderful partner started a collection I’ve wanted to begin for a very long time! I’m now the proud owner of toys from the Beetlejuice movie and when opening them I felt like a 5 year old! I’m the same age as the Beetlejuice movie and was never able to own anything from this collection until now… The obsession with this toy line has well and truly begun and now must own EVERYTHING.
If you want to see the original commercial for one of the coolest gifts I have ever recieved for my birthday, please look below! Yes ok, it made me cringe a little knowing how old I am now watching this but there’s no denying how freaking amazing it is too!!
You know what made his tremendous find even better? IT WAS COMPLETELY UNOPENED. Let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like opening every piece of sellotape for the first time and even applying the stickers from a toy that was conceived in 1990!
Although Christmas may have passed for another year, maybe I’ve given you some food for thought for this years birthday or Christmas gifts for a loved one. I’d like to think there’s no greater gift than reminding someone one of their childhood and the toys they grew up with.
So my lovelies, I’m curious! What toys/board games would you say made you who you are today, would you consider collecting them again? Are you already in the midst of a collecting frenzy and if so what toy line are you adding too?
Remember buying pre-loved means they’ll be loved again!
